1723

Warrick was adjusting to his new life, though the idea of leaving the ocean was not what he wanted to hear. Nick didn’t blame him, change was difficult. They were moored off a small island in the Caribbean. Warrick wanted a little more time before giving up his baby.

Nick smiled at his mate who was lying on deck staring at the stars. Nick had set up the cabin downstairs just for them. “Warrick.”

Warrick didn’t move. “Yes?”

“Let’s go downstairs…” Nick walked over to him. “It’s been six months.”

Warrick looked up at him. “I know. Can’t we stay up here and look at the stars?”

“Well…”

“Please Nick?” Warrick smiled a bit. “Just… for me?”

“For you.” Nick sat on the deck next to Warrick then stretched out. “What are we looking at?”

“The stars.” Warrick said quietly. “It’s clear tonight. You can see everything.”

Nick smiled. He knew what Warrick was going to do, it had become a slight tradition, once a week they would look at the stars and Nick would say if he remembered if from their first life.

Warrick moved closer to Nick. “So… anything new?”

Nick smiled weakly. “I don’t see anything that I didn’t see last week. Maybe tomorrow we’ll get a Christmas star.”

Warrick looked at him. “If you say so.”

“I do say so.” Nick laughed and sat up. “Come on, let’s go below deck, I have something for you.”

Warrick looked at him. “It can’t be tomorrow yet.”

“Come with me anyways, Warrick.” Nick said getting up and holding a hand out to his mate.

Warrick sat up and took Nick’s hand getting up. “As you wish.”

Nick smiled and walked with Warrick. When they reached their destination, Nick locked the door behind them.

Warrick turned and looked at Nick. “What do you have planned?”

“Something special for us.” Nick grinned pushing Warrick onto the bed.

Warrick looked at Nick, his eyes glowing softly. “Yes?”

“Yes.” Nick climbed on the bed and straddling and kissing him.

Warrick let Nick take control, not resisting when Nick pulled his shirt off and pinned his arms over his head.

Nick kissed down Warrick’s chest, giving plenty of attention to each nipple, smiling against his mates skin, loving the responses he was getting.

Nick nuzzled Warrick’s chest, eyes golden, fangs lengthening, gently scraping them down Warrick’s chest.

Warrick arched up and moaned quietly.

Nick hissed when he heard pounding on the door. “Who is it?” He snapped.

“Nick! He’s trying to throw my books overboard again!” Tim yelled through the door.

“He tried to push me overboard!” Tony yelled back.

Warrick’s head hit the pillows. “Ignore them… maybe they will leave us alone.”

Nick growled and got off of Warrick, crossed to the door unlocked it and threw it open. “How about this, I take you and throw you both to the sharks!”

Tim blinked and took a step back. “Did we interrupt something?”

Nick glared at the two. “Do I need to keelhaul you both?”

“That gives me my answer.” Tim turned and started to run.

“Tim you take one more step and I will take you to England and leave you there with Arthur.” Nick growled.

Tim stopped mid-step.

“Ha!” Tony smirked.

“You are going to stop trying to destroy whatever keeps Tim sane, Tim you are not going to kill Tony because that would be bad. Now, only reason to come get us is if we are attacked, starting to sink, mutiny is happening, the world is coming to an end, or you are both dust. Got it?” Nick looked them over.

Tim and Tony nodded.

“Good, now go away!” Nick slammed the door in their faces.

“Think he was mad?” Tony asked Tim.

Tim smacked him upside the head, walking away muttering in Gaelic.

Warrick blinked at Nick, suddenly he was in another room watching Nick scorn two small children, a boy and a girl. Warrick shook his head and looked at Nick. “You’ve done that before…”

Nick looked at Warrick. “You remember?”

“They were bickering all night, interrupted us.”

Nick nodded. “I love my children but I want to be alone with you.” He moved over to a chest that sat on the floor. “But I know them, soon they will come apologize.” He pulled out a small velvet bag and walked back over to the bed, sitting on it. “I have something for you.”

Warrick sat up and looked at Nick. “It’s not yet tomorrow…”

“I want to give it to you now.” Nick opened the bag and pulled out two rings. “It’s not much but…”

“I remember…” Warrick picked up one of the rings. “The design. We chose this.”

Nick nodded. “I redrew it after I was turned, I knew you would come back to me.”

Warrick turned it in his fingers. “When did you get it done?”

“When Tony had his sword repaired in that English port a few months ago. The smith did good work, I paid him to make these rings for us. I had had the stones. I believe he has done a very good job.”

Warrick looked at Nick. “Sometimes I wonder why I deserve you.”

“I ask myself that as well. Put it on, mate.” Nick smiled, slipping his ring on. “No one should have to ask who you are with, that should tell them.”

Warrick slipped the ring on. The silver was a stark contrast against his skin, the blue stones like the water at night. Warrick looked down at the ring than at Nick. “You spoil me.”

“It’s the right time of year and you came back to me. I have a right to spoil you. My gift to you is this ring and being here every day for you. Helping you transition to the next life, away from the sea…”

Warrick sighed. “Last Christmas on the sea… on Red.”

“Just for a while, Warrick. You’ll return.” Nick kissed him gently. “Merry Christmas.”

Warrick sighed. “I didn’t get you anything Nick…”

“You did. You’re here.” Nick smiled. “This is the best gift I could have ever gotten, you.”

Warrick blushed and smiled weakly. “I am forever yours.”

“You are forever mine.” Nick moved and straddled Warrick again. “Forever mine.” Nick dipped down and kissed him.

There was a quiet knock on the door. “We’re sorry…” Came through.

Warrick looked at Nick, gauging his reaction. “You’re forgiven now, leave us alone.” Nick called out.

Warrick grinned. “Letting the children get away with it yet again.”

Nick smiled at him. “They’ll leave me alone now.” Nick kissed Warrick’s chest. “Now, where was I…”
