I went to The MIM, also known The Musical Instrument Museum. I took some pictures that I want to share!
The Sign at the Entrance from the 2nd Floor

Paper Mache Jazz Singer

Oil Can Electric Guitar from South Africa. Sounds JUST like a modern US made guitar. It's *amazing*

Drum from Egypt

Puppet box from Kyrgyzstan

A Costume from Mongolia

Raven box from the Pacific Northwest

Baritone Saxophone

Camelback Mountain from the second floor near the US Exhibit.

Do you happen to know anything more about the Mongolian costume? It's very striking.

on 2012-02-10 05:00 am (UTC)It's Erlig Khan, the God of the underworld (also known as Yama and Erlick Khan). He comes out at the end of a ceremony and banishes the evil spirits.
So the scary looking guy is actually the good guy!
